Splendid performance as threading diamonds from the deep inside of soul

May 31th, 8pm in 2017, Seoul Art Center Concert Hall was filled with the sound of music that Gidon Kremer known as one of the greatest violinists and András Keller, the international level of a soloist, an art director and chief conductor of Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra naturally released the mastery performance from the bottom of their soul.

Starting 25 May 2017, they embark on a bold new adventure with the two ensembles they respectively lead, Kremerata Baltica and Concerto Budapest, as they undertake a ten-day joint tour of Asia.

To celebrate the 90th birthday of Hungarian composer György Kurtág, Budapest rolled out the red carpet for an eight-day retrospective, Kurtág 90. On Friday, the Concerto Budapest Orchestra and international soloists performed six of his orchestral works at the Franz Liszt Academy for his birthday.

The violinist Gidon Kremer and the Concerto Budapest under the direction of the Hungarian violinist and conductor András Keller will perform the Hungarian premiere of Mieczysław Weinberg’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra Op. 67, composed in 1959, at the Palace of Arts in Budapest on 14 February 2015.

Lera Auerbach will be at the focal point with three Hungarian premieres in a portrait concert at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall in Budapest on 11 October 2014. During the course of the concert “Concerto Open I. - Lera Auerbach & Concerto Budapest” the Concerto Budapest will perform her works “Eterniday” for bass drum, celesta and strings and the Symphony No. 1 “Chimera” under the direction of András Keller for the first time in Hungary. The composer and pianist will be personally present and is also the soloist at the performance of her own Cadenzas to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D-minor, K. 466.

Back from its Japan tour, filled with new impressions and fresh inspiration, Concerto Budapest continues its programmes in Budapest.

Programmes of Concerto Budapest in April will include the screening of a documentary, and as always, works of exciting composers interpreted by original musician personalities. On 8 April, the Orchestra performs selected works of Brahms and Sofia Gubaidulina at Zeneház.

In March, Concerto Budapest welcomes spring with a colourful range of concerts. With Women’s Day approaching, it might be a great idea to buy a double ticket for some of the upcoming shows. (Photo: Sándor Benkő)
