Music is the Greatest Gift of All
A new exciting concert series will come to life thanks to Concerto Budapest and UMZE Chamber Ensemble. Starting from January, Hommage à Stravinsky will bring the fascinating pieces of the master himself, his brilliant fellow musicians as well as outstanding contemporary composers to fill the amazing halls of Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. Stravinsky was a truly determinant figure of the classical music scene - his compositions are so peerless and unrepeatable that they can be recognized by only a few rhythms. He was without a doubt, one of the greatest and most influential musicians of the 20th century. His virtuosity and limitless imagination created a grandiose oeuvre – that is what Concerto Budapest and UMZE Chamber Ensemble would like to commemorate. The series consisting of three concerts will put three talented young Hungarian pianists in the spotlight: Balázs Fülei, József Balog and Zoltán Fejérvári will have the chance to mesmerize their audience on these prestigious occasions.
On 13 January, Bob Becker’s Music on the Moon will premier as it will be heard for the very first time in this version. On 25 February the orchestras will play a piece by Edgar Varèse, a much appreciated fellow musician of Stravinsky. Varèse was a true prophet, he absolutely surpassed the age he lived in: he created an almost electronic like sound without the help of modern techniques. The concert promises a matchless experience to the audience. On 30 March you can listen to the composition of Pierre Boulez called Tombeau: it is also a rarely played piece and in fact it has never been heard before by Hungarian audiences. The concerts of Hommage à Stravinsky will surely gladden everyone who’s in love with the classical genre. Be a part of the incredible gift that music brings to all of us in the ever enchanting Academy of Music.
