Late night Premiere with Ádám Kondor

Ádám Kondor Piano Concerto – Premiere

Featuring Gábor Csalog piano
Conductor Zoltán Rácz

True to its name, this late evening series in the Concerto Budapest 2017-18 season serves up one premiere after another. The first concert gives those open to new trends the chance to hear the first concert hall performance of Piano Concerto (completed: 2017) by Ádám Kondor, who has been resident in Thailand since 2013. “Just as any honourable writer considers every text and the events surrounding it as fundamental literary material, and interprets it thus – whether it is a doctor’s diagnosis, natural history publication, user manual, draft of an act, declaration of love whispered into the ear, interpellation by an MP or whatever else – so, too, a composer should apply everything to his music. The basic question of the composer’s ethic is: ‘How can a work be made from this?’ As with Esterházy, whatever text that is raised into his works becomes ennobled as literature.” This is how Ádám Kondor spoke about music composition in an interview a few years ago; now his Piano Concerto is conducted by Zoltán Rácz, known for his commitment to contemporary music, while Gábor Csalog is seated at the piano (by the way, this artist is much respected as a performer of new Hungarian pieces, including Kondor compositions).
