At the end of last year, András Keller and Concerto Budapest greeted the arrival of Christmas in the company of Anna Vinnitskaya, delighting the audience with a most memorable concert. This December holds out even greater promise because in addition to the Russian pianist who frequently carries off top competition prizes, this time Evgeni Koroliov, a regular visitor to our capital as a guest of András Keller, and the greatest ‘acquisition’ of Concerto Budapest in the past few years, also takes to the podium. And as if this were not enough, then what about the news that Koroliov is bringing along Ljupka Hadzigeorgieva, who plays together with the pianist in his musical duo and to whom Koroliov is married. Thus the concert featuring no fewer than three star pianists is topped off to perfection with festive music by the maestro Johann Sebastian Bach. In the series of keyboard concertos, indeed duo and trio concertos, not only do these three fine pianists offer a representative sample from this outstanding element of Bach’s oeuvre but they also transmit something of the absolute joy of shared piano play to the Christmas audience.
